The Products of Wealth (1997)
Comprises seven separate booklets boxed together. One of the booklets is the colophon and dedication, the other is text based and spells out the uses of political photomontage.
Booklet 1: And This Little Man Went To Work (exploitation of workers)
Booklet 2: Shadows (rampant militarism)
Booklet 3: The Faithful Accompanist (rampant compliance)
Booklet 4: Industrial Woman (rampant exploitation of workers – especially migrant women)
Booklet 5: King Trigger (rampant colonialism)
The text is the handset in assorted fonts and the images are tipped in black and white photomontages which give me the opportunity to go full-on-John Heartfield. The entire project is a retrospective of earlier work which was featured in both multiples and various small magazines. The title is a borrowing from Jethro Tull. The Products of Wealth has a companion volume – Visbytes (Exhibited at the Museum for Kunsthandwerk, Frankfurt, Germany)
