Eidetics (2016)

Eidetics is a collaboration with Leon van Schaik; the book plays with the vivid arousal of recollections triggered unexpectedly during our everyday living. The book features poetry, textual fragments, short stories, essays and photomontages. The images wander around the built environment and those out-of-kilter moments which fire up our imagining. The texts evoke past lives, loves, friendships and how our everyday remembering is provoked. Colour has always been part of the conversation between Leon and myself and in Eidetics, we put that thinking to
work. At the outset and at its conclusion, the book features an ideogram, which both sets it course and concludes its journey.

Is Eidetics a book of poems, a journal, an extended love letter, or perhaps a novella? Why can’t it be all of these? Remember, a book made in collaboration between artists has a huge embrace.
